Oggi vi voglio raccontare un aneddoto che all’epoca, mi pare fosse il 1999, mi lasciò parecchio turbato.
Mi è tornato in mente perché sono andato a vedere che fine aveva fatto il progetto di banca virtuale europea, www.bve.com, uno di quei tanti che nella new economy nascevano come funghi. Mi capita spesso di volere tornare a zappare nel mio passato, ripercorrendo i fili delle mie passate attività (da quando facevo il quest master su uno shard di Ultima Online, alle recensioni di videogiochi su nextgame.it). Questa volta ho visto, non senza un sorriso, che il sito BVE è morto. Dovete sapere che ero stato contattato dal titolare dell’azienda per collaborare al portale. Si trattava di fare database di banche. Faccio il primo e vengo pagato. Ultimo il secondo, lo mando. Dopo qualche giorno chiamo il titolare per futuri progetti. Ci eravamo sentiti spesso negli ultimi 15 giorni e sempre ci davamo del lei. Allora chiedo “se non fosse possibile darci del tu”. Pausa di qualche secondo. Mi risponde, freddissimo: “no, assolutamente no”. E chiude il telefono. Stavo per ridere, pensando a una sua battuta, ma il clic del telefono mi gelò il riso sulle labbra. Richiamo, non risponde. Alla fine risponde. E si mette a urlare isterico, con la voce così alterata da fare paura. “Io sono un capo di aziendaaaaaaa, e lei mi vuole dare del tuuuuuuuuu”. Insomma, mi dice di non chiamarlo più. Intanto non mi ha pagato il secondo lavoro. Continuo a sollecitare i suoi ocllaboratori. Niente. Dopo un po’ di tempo mi chiama la segretaria e mi affida un altro lavoro. Lo giro a un mio amico, dicendo che poi si può tenere i soldi, avvertendolo però del pericolo. Faccio consegnare anche questo lavoro e aspetto. Sono 6 anni che aspetto. Mi devono ancora circa 200 euro. E’ stato uno dei più grandi insegnamenti che il lavoro mi ha impartito in vita, su come chi bada alle apparenze e alle formalità è a volte il primo a non comportarsi da signore.

L’aneddoto che hai raccontato mi ha ricordato un episodio simile, accaduto in un contesto ormai quasi dimenticato.
Il mio scenario: fresco neo-assunto in una multinazionale, in cui tutti (dal rigido direttore amministrativo in giù) mi accolgono con un caloroso “diamoci del tu” (derivazione, forse, dalla mancanza di un formalismo spinto nella lingua ufficiale dell’azienda).
Pivello e baldanzoso, incaricato dal mio capo di raccogliere alcuni dati per una relazione, un bel giorno (4^ settimana lavorativa) mi presento nel reparto R&D da un product manager (ne’ dirigente, ne’ quadro, ma tre livelli impiegatizi – e qualche anno d’età – più di me). Senza troppi filtri mentali, mi avvicino alla sua scrivania (in un angolo di un ampio open space) e mi presento con la mano tesa: “Ciao, io sono… ” “ALT” mi blocca lui “possiamo darci del lei, almeno inizialmente?” Capita l’antifona, e tarato in modo apatico tono di voce ed espressione del viso, rispondo “Sì, credo sia meglio”.
Non gli ho mai dato del lei nemmeno in seguito, anche quando la sua promettente carriera di ingegnere (“io sono qui per arrivare in alto”, mi aveva confidato in seguito) ha subito una botta d’arresto in seguito ad alcuni errori marchiani e oggettivamente riconducibili alla sua superficialità.
Due anni dopo io ho lasciato quell’azienda, in un momento in cui il suddetto product manager era ormai riuscito ad inimicarsi chiunque, senza mai aver supportato la propria alterigia con una professionalità degna di questo nome. Oggi mi risulta che faccia il contabile nella carrozzeria del suocero.
L’aneddoto è simpatico e d’altronde spesso, quanto più un dirigente è poco capace e competente, tanto più deve darsi arie da padreterno per nascondere la realtà.
Tuttavia non si deve dimenticare che nel mondo in cui viviamo la forma ***è*** sostanza. Il commerciante che dà del tu a un cliente entrato per la prima volta nel suo esercizio non è certo un esempio di professionalità. In una struttura gerarchica rigida, dare del tu a una persona dalla quale dipende la tua carriera appare un po’ ruffiano -meglio aspettare che sia lei a proportelo.
